We are a telecommunications services company that offers wireless network operators a variety of services such as Equipment Installation and Commissioning, Microwave Engineering, Tower Light Repair and Monitoring, Civil Construction, and Maintenance Services. As a Tower Technician, you will assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications tower and support structures. Tower Technicians work irregular hours, travel frequently, and work at great heights in extreme weather conditions. Area of Responsibilities for Tower Technician:

  • Climbing, rigging, and working on communications towers for the purpose of installing, replacing, and repairing antenna systems equipment; performs basic tower maintenance.
  • The basic use of computers and software to complete job close out packages.
  • Knowing the hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
  • The ability to climb tall structures (300 feet or more) with 50 lb. load.
  • Analyzing situations accurately and adopt an appropriate course of action.
  • Communicating orally and in writing.
  • Following instructions accurately and complete assigned course of action.
  • Recognizing safety hazards and performing duties in a safe manner.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid driver license and clean Motor Vehicle record
  • Ability to pass a background check to meet requirements to access government and utility facilities including military bases
  • Willingness to travel as the job required
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 Preferred)
  • Competent Climber & competent Rigger Certification from Industry recognized Certification program (Comtrain preferred)

Pay: $20-$35/hr Depending on Experience

Location: Home-based w/ weekly travel required throughout Missouri & Illinois

Second Sight Systems is a leading utility service provider throughout the U.S. and is based in St. Louis, MO.  Second Sight has been in the utility business for over 20 years and looks forward to continuous growth in the years to come.

 

Second Sight is a provider of technical services and field support to the electric and gas utility market. We are seeking to grow our team of Meter Technicians and add to our operational field team with high-quality individuals. The main focus of the job will be reading, installing, and maintaining utility meters in residential, commercial and industrial premises. Paid training will be provided by the company.

 

Applicants must be able to communicate appropriately and effectively with the public, supervisors, and co-workers. Applicant will be working outside in the field, independently, in all and any weather conditions. Frequently requires the following range of physical motions: standing or walking, climbing, and descending stairs, bending at the waist, bending at the knees. Applicant will be expected to use a mobile phone to give and receive information; driving a company vehicle; and use of a laptop computer.

 

Experience with utility meters and performing duties as a meter technician is preferred but not required.  Second Sight will provide candidates with all necessary training in order to do the job safely and effectively.

 

Candidates must have valid driver’s license, pass a criminal background check, and drug screen.

 

Area of Responsibilities for Meter Technicians:

  • Operate a company vehicle to conduct field work orders
  • Collect manual and wireless meter usage data
  • Provide daily productivity reports to management
  • Work to exceed performance targets
  • Adhere to our health and safety procedures, quality & industry standards and codes of practice
  • Deliver excellent customer service

Key Performance Objectives:

  • Remain safe at all times
  • Inspect utility meters for damage and report findings back to management
  • Perform daily work orders as efficiently and effectively as possible
  • Give and follow directions to geographic locations
  • OT and weekend work required on occasion

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid driver license and be able to pass the Motor Vehicle Records check
  • Highly organized and be able to effectively report verbally and written reports back to Management
  • Ability to work competently with laptops and cell phones for data reporting purposes
