Second Sight Systems’ utility metering division was recently awarded another project through a successful partnership with Ferguson Waterworks in Port Lavaca, TX. SSS is looking forward to another successful water meter installation / replacement project which is located about 90 minutes outside Corpus Christie. Second Sight Systems will be responsible for replacing approximately 5,000+ existing residential water meters and replacing them with new Mueller meters. While facing some initial minor delays, work is expected to begin in Q3 2022, with project completion sometime in Q1 2023. Another great win for our Second Sight Systems’ Submetering Services Team, as it has been extremely busy in 2021 with numerous projects delivered across the country. SSS is proud to announce another win with Pralle Meadows in St. Charles Missouri.
In a carved out part in the City of St. Charles lies Pralle Meadows Apartments. They were in the unique situation of having to pay the exorbitant water prices of the City while other developments nearby were part of the County, escaping these rates. This residential project consists of 150 units, where SSS is contracted to install submetering equipment and provide billing services in order to keep a close eye on utility costs. SSS is ecstatic to have another great win under its belt for our turnkey submetering solutions.

Second Sight Systems’ Submetering Services Team has been extremely busy in 2021 with numerous projects delivered across the country. SSS recently won a sizeable residential project located in Bridgeton, Missouri. This project consists of 300 apartment units, and will involve providing a turnkey solution consisting of submeters, networking equipment and billing services. Second Sight Systems is excited to announce another big win in Q3 of 2021. SSS was awarded another multi-faceted, turnkey utility project for Booneville, KY, through a successful partnership with Ferguson Waterworks. The City of Booneville, KY is thrilled to be moving forward with upgrading their existing water meter system to a new AMI system. This project is expected to have its challenges due to the area’s terrain and ruralness, but SSS is confident of another successful project completion.
Water Meter Audits
First, SSS will be assisting the utility by auditing and accurately recording the GPS coordinates and directional guidance data for all of the utility’s water meters. This critical information will also be helpful to the city in future operations in locating rural residents that are currently difficult to find by address only.
Network Infrastructure Installation
Second, SSS will be installing the network infrastructure consisting of Master Meter equipment to support the upgrade of the utility’s water meter system. These will be installed across several of the city’s water tanks providing an elevated clear line of site. SSS’s technical services team is excited to be part of another successful Ferguson / Master Meter network infrastructure installation project.

Lastly, SSS will be performing water meter installation / replacements throughout the city of Booneville, KY. Second Sight Systems is responsible for replacing approximately 1500 existing residential water meters and replacing them with brand new AMI Master Meters. Work is scheduled to begin in late September 2021, with project completion in late Q4 2021.

Second Sight Systems is ecstatic to announce they were awarded a multi-year Gas Meter Reading Services contract to support the entire Spire East Network located in Saint Louis, MO as well as their surrounding geographic network footprint. SSS will be providing turn-key gas meter reading services to include both mobile drive-by meter reading, as well as manual walk up reads.
SSS’s history of world class quality workmanship and professionalism, combined with a top tier safety program along with an unblemished safety record greatly contributed to being awarded this signature project. This project is expected to grow into excess of 175,000 monthly endpoints in 24 months or less, as Spire continues to upgrade their existing legacy AMR system to Itron’s AMI System using Intelis Gas Meters. The project is to begin in July 2021 and continue until the entire network has been upgraded.

In another great win for Second Sight Systems in Q2 of 2021, DEMCO has awarded a multi-year Meter Reading Services contract for a large portion of their legacy network. SSS will be providing several technicians to provide meter services along with supporting their disconnection services. Due to Hurricane Ida, SSS will be beginning this project in late September 2021, and is happy to continue to support DEMCO with a deep portfolio of utility services.
DEMCO is a distribution electric cooperative serving approximately 112,000 meters throughout 7 parishes in Southeast Louisiana to include Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, West Feliciana, and Tangipahoa. The member owned cooperative has approximately $208,000,000 in annual revenue and total utility plant of approximately $667,000,000 before accumulated depreciation. The cooperative’s system consists of both transmission and distribution facilities which include 10 metering points for wholesale power and 44 substations for system reliability.

Second Sight Systems utility Electric Metering Division was awarded another project through a successful partnership with Itron This Electric Meter installation / replacement contract is in support of Owatonna Public Utilities in Minnesota, which is located about 1 hour south of Minneapolis, MN. Second Sight Systems is responsible for replacing approximately 12,000 existing residential electric meters and replacing these with new Itron meters– with about 10% located inside the residences. Additional scope for the project is to include an additional 14,000 endpoints requiring Over-the-Air programming. Work began in August 2021, with project completion in late Q4 2021.
